BoxWork™

BoxWork is one of the frameworks I've developed to do this work.

Most of us spend our lives trying to improve what can be seen without ever examining what is driving it.

BoxWork is the process of slowing down and looking beneath the surface, where the beliefs shaping our lives actually live.

Think of your mind like a house.

The upper floor is your conscious life, where you work, set goals, and build relationships.

The basement is your subconscious, filled with labeled boxes.

Each one holds beliefs.

We mistake the beliefs inside for facts, and they quietly run our lives.

A Few Examples

Relationships

Inside you might find:

• Love means never needing anything.

• If I have to ask, it doesn't count.

• A good partner sacrifices everything.

Work and Achievement

Inside you might find:

• My value is my productivity.

• I have to prove I belong here.

• Ambition is selfish.

You don't know the boxes are there.
But what's inside them is the program running your life.
No one told you the beliefs were negotiable.

The Warning Signs

You know it's time for basement work when:

  • You repeat the same patterns in your relationships, no matter who you're with.
  • You have an emotional reaction far bigger than the moment that triggered it.
  • You can't answer "How are you, really?" without going numb or answering on autopilot.
  • You erase your own opinions to keep everyone else comfortable.

BoxWork is the process of going downstairs together and sorting through what's there.

The Three Phases of BoxWork

Phase 1: Establish the Standard

Before we open a single box, we identify your values.

They become the lens through which everything else gets evaluated.

The beliefs we uncover later get measured against this standard.

Phase 2: Open and Sort

We find a current point of friction in your life and trace it down to the basement.

We open the box and look at what's inside: the quiet, everyday assumptions you live by, so familiar you've stopped noticing them.

Things like "expressing my needs is selfish" or "showing emotion makes me weak."

To you, they feel like facts.

That's where a coach helps, mirroring back what you can't see on your own.

Phase 3:

Make It Your Own

I sit beside you as a guide while you learn how the sorting works.

The goal is for me to be temporary.

You leave knowing how to continue this process on your own.

You came to be coached.

You'll leave with the skills to coach yourself.

The Result:

Once you're connected to yourself, with clear values and beliefs you actually chose, something becomes possible that wasn't before.

You can show up in your closest relationships as the person you really are.

You stop performing.

You stop disappearing.

You connect from a place of security instead of scrambling.

This work doesn't end, and it isn't meant to.

The goal was never perfection.

It's staying connected to yourself and choosing that again every day.

This isn't about scripts or communication hacks.

It's the lasting foundation
your relationships
get built on.
